So, while I’m sitting here brainstorming colourways for next week, I thought I’d ask your opinion on the matter! – what do you all want to see?! Are you a pink person, or do hate the colour? Do you like green, blue, purple, red, specific combinations? Semi-solids, variegated? Brights, pastels, or darks?

I’m not a brights person, I love dark and light colours, purples, blues, greens, brown, cream, light pink, black. Casey is way more into anything that’s bright, loves orange, yellow, green, pink, neon! So between us we come up with a pretty good mix of ideas I think!

Thanks to all our customers, we’ve had a great first couple of weeks! And we’re having so much fun, I think I’m starting to get used to having hands permanently stained one colour or another too!

Yarn dyed, and looking good!

May 12, 2010 at 1:40 pm (Uncategorized)

Though I think we may have gotten a bit carried away with the ammount ofย  ‘girly’ colourways! Whoops.

The wool is drying, and I can’t wait to rehank it all! We’ve got 4x 100g skeins of a lovely soft 8ply merino in two colourways (200g ea) to put up, as well as a whole pile of 12ply. The merino is a more expensive yarn, so will be $16/100g. We’re looking at getting 5kg of it in within the next few weeks ๐Ÿ™‚

The new batch of yarn should go up sometime tomorrow afternoon, and don’t forget if you make a purchase by next tuesday, you go in the draw to win a free skein of yarn or a knitted child’s hat!

A little contest!

May 7, 2010 at 8:36 pm (Uncategorized)

And our yarn order has arrived! That was fast, all the way from Wellington out to Upper Hutt within hours. Now where will I stash it all?! Anyway, this means I can announce the date we’ll next be listing more lovely yarn – Thursday the 13th. ๐Ÿ™‚ We will try to have new stock listed every second thursday, so keep your eyes peeled.

We’ve decided to put together a little bonus draw to celebrate starting out – all customers who make a purchase in the first two weeks we’re open (so the 4th to the 18th) will go in the draw to win their choice of either a free skein of yarn, custom dyed to their choice of colours, or a baby/child-sized Aviatrix or Poppy Hat! (Aviatrix is in sizes 0-3m to 4y+, and poppy in 0-3m to 10-12y)

Casey is able to knit these hats for sale, so if you’re interested in having some of our yarn knitted up, just ask. We’ll have an official price list for them up soon. We hope to be able to offer more patterns for custom knits soon. ๐Ÿ˜€

Image is a poppy hat made by Casey, Aviatrix is a similar design with straps, and usually without the embelishment – Great for little boys.

Welcome to Wicked Knits!

April 30, 2010 at 11:06 am (Uncategorized)

Just a little blog two lovely crafty ladies from Upper Hutt have put together for our new endeavour – selling gorgeous hand-dyed yarn. Our first base yarn, just in time for winter is a nice soft 100% wool in 12ply, though it would work well in place of a worsted weight as well. This is perfect for longies or soakers, and also would also make great warm jerseys or hats. If all goes well, we’re looking at expanding into some softer, more luxury merino 8ply, 10ply, and sock yarn bases, and getting some cottage licences sorted so that we can do custom knits.

First lot of colours have been dyed up, and pics will be up in a few days when they’ve dried and been rehanked.

xx Alia and Casey
